We are looking for a CAD Engineer to join ClearSpace.

The Role

As a CAD Engineer, you will contribute to the mechanical design, analysis, specification, testing, and validation of ClearSpace’s spacecrafts. You will have the unique opportunity to shape the mission and develop new technologies. Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage Solidworks software data, create template, macros,
  • Manage the main assembly of the Satellite CAD model including all units, components provided by suppliers and structure,
  • Design and prepare manufacturing drawings of all parts and assemblies not under structure supplier responsibility notably connector brackets, capture system I/F support brackets,
  • Design the preliminary harness routing,
  • Review manufacturing drawings from structure supplier including panels, shear wall, and brackets,
  • Follow through part procurements and perform incoming inspection of all items not under structure supplier responsibility,
  • Support AIT activities including integration sequence, identification of space constraints, and assembly constraints,
  • Participate in meetings linked to platform design and satellite layout, 
  • Provide regularly CAD models in step, 3D PDF format.

Essential Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a CAD engineer of space systems.
  • Familiarity with programming languages, for example, Python, C++ or VBA.
  • Good knowledge of modeling CAD using SolidWorks.
  • Good knowledge of CAD file management systems such as SolidWorks PDM.
  • Thorough understanding of design involvement in planning, executing and evaluating results from environmental tests.
  • Able to demonstrate technical leadership and work as part of a project team.

Desired Experience

  • Experience and knowledge of mechanical analysis tools such as NASTRAN.
  • Experience and knowledge of thermal analysis tools such as ESATAN-TMS, is desired but not essential.

Desired Education

  • (BSc/MSc) Degree in mechanical engineering or relevant engineering / science discipline.
