Advanced Process Control (APC) Engineer (f/m/d)

Aachen, North Rhine-Westphalia, GermanyVollzeit3w ago

About us

We see the semiconductor industry as a realm of possibility. We see opportunity. We see the profound impact that our graphene solutions will have in transforming the industry. We invite you to join us in driving change with our fundamentally human-centered approach, uniting bright minds around a shared vision. The vision is: Prove to everybody that you can make a fundamental change. Prove with your knowledge and skills how things can be done differently. Together, we can change the paradigm of how the world connects

About our technology

The semiconductor industry’s growing demand for more powerful chips with higher bandwidth and lower power finds its solution in our technology. We connect chips to high-throughput, low-delay computing networks. The key lies in harnessing the physical properties of graphene to combine electronic computing with photonic communication, allowing countless chips to interact almost as if they were one. Our graphene photonic innovation increases computing power and efficiency to a new order of magnitude

In short, we connect chips to create powerful and energy-efficient networks, overcoming connectivity limitations in the semiconductor industry. We deliver the graphene solution

The Role

Black Semiconductor is looking for a highly skilled Advanced Process Control (APC) Engineer (f/m/d) to join our Fab Automation and Data team in Aachen, Germany. In this role, you will work closely with operation engineers and cross-functional teams to define, implement, and optimize APC control strategies that improve process monitoring, fault prevention, and overall equipment performance

You will also govern APC system usage, develop best practices and documentation, and coordinate system enhancements to ensure seamless integration with MES, EI, and automation platforms

Your Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with operation engineers to define, implement, and optimize APC control strategies

  • Govern APC system usage by ensuring consistent data models, parameter definitions, and rule templates across operation modules

  • Support end users in configuring, troubleshooting, and analyzing APC applications for process monitoring and fault prevention

  • Develop best practices, training materials, and documentation for APC usage and system governance

  • Coordinate system enhancement requests with MES, EI, and automation teams to ensure seamless data integration and real-time control feedback

Your Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in FDC, R2R, or SPC implementation, preferably within semiconductor industry or related sectors

  • Solid understanding of semiconductor equipment processes behavior, sensor data collection, and control limits methodology

  • Familiarity with APC or SPC platforms (e.g., SPACE, YMS, or similar systems)

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across disciplines to translate process needs into APC solutions

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English; proficiency in German is a strong plus

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field

Tools, Technologies & Systems

  • APC stacks, including Fault Detection and Classification (FDC), Run-to-Run (R2R), and Statistical Process Control (SPC) system platforms

  • Data collection and equipment integration interfaces (Flat file, SECS/GEM, EDA/Interface A)

  • Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Equipment Integration (EI) for process data linkage

  • Lean and Six Sigma toolkits for process optimization

  • Statistical analysis and data visualization tools (e.g., JMP, Python, Tableau, Power BI)
